Welcome Bio 211 and 212 Students!
Scheduling for these courses will now be done through the new SSG platform that is being implemented across the University. This system has many positive benefits (such as quicker session scheduling), but also has some limitations. Below are 2 limitations that we have encountered and what might happen with your sessions as a result:
- The system does not allow you to schedule recurring sessions automatically when you schedule your first session.
This means that if you schedule multiple appointments in the system so that you are meeting with a tutor once a week you may end up with a different tutor each time. To help avoid this, we suggest writing down the name of the tutor you scheduled with for the first session and selecting them as your tutor as you move forward (see video for how to do this).
It also means that a tutor may need to cancel an appointment with you if they met with a different client before you who wants recurring sessions on the same day and time. Our tutors have been instructed to take this as a first come, first serve basis. If this happens to you, please try scheduling another appointment in the system. If there are no available tutors when you do this, please email us at email@example.com so we can try to find a tutor for you.
2. The system does not recognize when a tutor has reached their maximum client limit.
Each of our tutors has established a maximum number of clients/sessions they are able to handle each week based on their personal schedule. Unfortunately, since the system does not recognize this they may need to cancel appointments that were booked after they have reached their limit.
Our tutors are working hard to delete their availability once they have hit their maximum client limit, but in order to do so they need to have access to a computer once they’ve hit their limit. If they are in class, meeting with a client, or working another job it may cause a delay in updating their availability.
If this happens to you, please try scheduling another appointment in the system. If there are no available tutors when you do this, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can try to find a tutor for you.
